Megastar Rajnikanth turns 61 today. Born as Shivaji Rao Gaekwad on December 12, 1950. He had a very humble beginning. His mother died when he was 5. He often did odd jobs. He served as a ticket collector (bus conductor) in a local shuttle bus in Bangalore when he was discovered by the legendary K. Balachander who renamed him Rajinikanth. Superstar considers him as his mentor.
“Happy birthday Rajni! Wishing you good health and many more achievements in life…happiness and prosperity always,” Amitabh posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.
The two actors have worked together in films like “Andhaa Kanoon”, “Geraftaar” and “Hum”.
The ‘Rajni Craze’ is not uncommon to anyone in India especially Tamil Nadu. His birthday is no less than a festival for his fans, who celebrate their god’s 61st birthday today. His fans have lined up for special ‘poojas’, some offering milk to their idol while some fans are throwing lavish bash for his birthday. Some fans are doing online campaign to Madame Tussauds for having waxwork of the star.
The next birthday of the super star is going to be extra special as it falls on the unique date of ‘12-12-12’. We hope by then we will have a wax statue of the legend placed at Madame Tussauds.
Here’s wishing him a great birthday with good health and hope he continues to entertain us with his work.
