After red saree in Chammak Challo, She is back with different look doing Mujra for the first time in ‘Agent Vinod’ with beau Saif Ali Khan. Yes, we are talking about Bollywood’s Numero Uno actress Kareena Kapoor in ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’ choreographed by Saroj Khan. ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’, is composed by music director Pritam and sung by Nandini Srikar and Malini Awasthi. The other actress in the aquamarine choli, who shares the screen space with Kareena in the song, is Iranian-Swedish beauty Maryam Zakaria. She makes her Bollywood debut with this Mujra song.
Bebo’s Mujraoutfit is styled by Manish Malhotra. This song was required for a crucial sequence in the film that carries
the story forward. Says director Shriram Raghavan, “The song, ‘Dil mera muft ka’, has been shot as a Mujra because it blended well with the plot of the film. Songs should take the film forward, not exist just for entertainment. There is a sequence in Karachi, Pakistan, so I thought if we have to do a song sequence, then let it be a traditional Mujra“.
Bebo’s trying really hard to get the classic nazakat and adaayein right and boy she looks million dollar bucks. But can’t say the same for her performance. The 31-year-old turned to Bollywood veteran Rekha for inspiration, who mesmerized the audience in the early 80s with her mujras like ‘Salaam-e-Ishq Meri Jaan’ (Muqaddar Ka Sikandar), ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’ and ‘In Aankhon Ki Masti’ (Umrao Jaan). “Rekhaji has been the ultimate performer when it comes to classic Mujra songs but ‘Dil Mera Muft Ka’ is a contemporary take on Mujras and I hope everyone enjoys it as much as I have performing it,” Kareena said.
Kareena has a lot of comparisons to deal with. Some of her predecessors have set the standards for a filmi mujra too high to easily reach up to – like Rekha’s class act in Dil cheez kya hai from Umrao Jaan, followed by Aishwarya Rai’s graceful dance in the newer version of the same movie and Madhuri Dixit’s silky-sexy moves in Maar dala from Devdas. Now living up to those high standards is going to be tough. Saroj Khan’s choreography is decent, but not hot enough. There is no doubt that Kareena’s look as usual is amazing, but the cleavage revealing outfit definitely doesn’t help up her hotness quotient. She looks like she’s tried too hard to make it look sensual and graceful but it just didn’t come out right to be called as Mujra.
In a recently released poster, Kareena is seen in various looks. Her character’s name as Iram is seen in various get-ups ranging from salwar kurta, lehenga to a gown.
The much awaited action Hindi spy thriller movie ‘Agent Vinod’ also stars Adil Hussain, Ram Kapoor, Prem Chopra and Gulshan Grover and is scheduled for theatrical release on March 23rd 2012. This is the second promotional song from the film after ‘I’ll Do The Talking’.
