Preview of Bombay Talkies
Bombay Talkies, a movie made up of four short films, made by Bollywood’s renowned directors, Karan Johar, Zoya Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap and Dibakar Banerjee. This film celebrates 100 years of Indian cinema.
Karan Johar film: The short film revolves around three individuals Rani Mukerji, Randeep Hooda and Saqib Saleem. Rani Mukerji plays a sexually suppressed housewife as well as a journalist. She seems to live a happy married life until she meets a new colleague at work which changes her life forever. The movie depicts the emotional feelings between them and their relationship. Also watch out for the hilarious dialogues like, “Galle Mein Mangalsutra, Aankhon Mein Kamasutra!”
Dibakar Banerjee film: The story is about a failed actor (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) struggling to make his living after his father’s death. After facing many failures, he also upsets upon his last chance to prove himself to the world and more importantly, to his daughter. Nawazuddin hilariously mimics some of Bollywood’s most epic lines. Also, Sadashiv Amrapurkar‘s booming performance is unforgettable.
Anurag Kashyap film: A man from a small town in UP, an ardent fan of Big B, comes to Mumbai from Allahabad to fulfill his sick father’s last wish which may also save his life. Amitabh Bachchan plays a cameo role, playing himself, in the movie. Anurag Kashyap and Amitabh Bachchan are coming together for the first time in ‘Bombay Talkies’. Love the dialogue “Allahabad ka paanwalla bhi intellectual hota hai!”
Zoya Akhtar film: A 12 year innocent school boy from a middle-class family is inspired by a film star Katrina Kaif. The boy imitates the actress – by dancing his heart out on the song, “Sheila Ki Jawaani” at all times. Apparently, Kaif plays the role of herself, as a stylish diva. The movie stars Ranvir Shorey as the middle-class father, Katrina Kaif and a little kid.
The highlight of the film is the title song, “Apna Bombay Talkies” that features 20 industry big stars as well as 20 eminent singers of B-town who has rendered their voices for these stars. It has been choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.
Again it’s amazing how four short films of 25 minute draws you like one full feature film just like a four course meal.
If you are a true lover of Indian Cinema, then watch this film. It will only remind you why you love Bollywood so much. It releases on 3rd May, 2013.
