Akshay Kumar is all set to launch a new production company in partnership with the former head of programming, Colors, Ashvini Yardi. The production house will be named as “Grazing Goats Production”. The first project of this film company is titled OMG (Oh My God). The shoot of the film is likely to commence in the first week of January, 2012.
OMG is an adaptation of a super hit Gujarati play ‘Kanji Virrudh Kanji’. Paresh Rawal, the great comedian of Indian film industry leads the play. This is one of the most successful and critically acclaimed Gujarati plays. Recently, it has also been adapted in Hindi. The Hindi title of the play is ‘Krishan Vs Kanhaiya’.
Akshay and Ashvini liked the concept of the play very much and decided to make a film based on this critically acclaimed drama. Ashvini Yardi, the co-founder and CEO, Grazing Goats Production, confirms in the media that they are planning their first film under the new banner. The play ever since its inception has really done well. People have appreciated this commercially successful play. The concept of Kanji Viruddh Kanji is very massy.
If sources are to be believed, the production house has already begun with the project. The film company has already completed with the pre-production activities of the movie. Everything seems to be in order. The shoot will start as per schedule without any delays. It is also said that since Paresh Rawal did the play, he wanted the play to be converted into a movie project so that the concept can be spread to a larger audience base.
Ashvini states that Paresh came to Akshay with an idea of converting this play into a full-fledged movie. Akshay along with the whole team of his production house heard and discussed the script with Rawal. Everyone was excited after hearing the script and this is how the project went on floors.
In Oh My God, you will get to see the comic chemistry between Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Akshay and Paresh have worked in many hit films together. Hera Pheri, Phir Hera Pheri, De Dana Dan, Bhool Bhulaiya and Welcome are the films these two actors did together. Ashvini confirms that in Oh My God the protagonist will be played by Paresh Rawal. The supporting cast of the film is yet to be finalized.
The story of the play is based on an atheist. He is the owner of an antique items shop. His shop gets destroyed in an earthquake. Due to this he suffers heavy losses and blames the almighty for the havoc. Since its inception, there have been around 400 shows of this play all over the globe.
The script of the play has been reframed. Many changes have been made in order to expand the script and convert it into a proper film story. Umesh Shukla is the director of the play. According to the sources, the film will be anchored by Umesh. If everything goes according to the plan, the film will hit the silver screen in the last quarter of 2012. Grazing Goats production is also planning to dub the film in Marathi as well as Bengali.
